Florida Speeding Ticket

A Florida traffic ticket can be a civil infraction or crime.  You may need to talk to a Jacksonville criminal lawyer about your case.  Regardless of the type of ticket that you have received, you should talk to a Jacksonville drivers license lawyer.  Your ticket could have a serious impact on your Florida driving record. Paying a speeding ticket or another moving infraction results in an adjudication of guilt. An adjudication of guilt on a Florida traffic citation or speeding ticket is a conviction.  This puts points on your drivers license.  Too many points may lead to a Jacksonville suspended or revoked license.

The following driving infractions will assess six (6) points:
1.  Leaving the Scene of an Accident (damage resulting in $50 or more)
2.  Speeding Infractions that result in an Accident

The following driving infractions will assess four (4) points:
1.  Speeding Ticket greater than 15 mph over the speed limit
2.  Reckless Driving
3.  Moving violations that cause an accident
4.  Violating traffic control signals
5.  Passing a stopped school bus

The following driving infractions will assess three (3) points:
1.  Speeding Ticket (15 mph or less over the speed limit)
2.  Driving with an open container of alcohol (This is not the same thing as a Jacksonville DUI arrest)
3.  Failure to comply with Child Restraint Laws
4.  Violating Curfew
5.  Minors driving during restricted hours
6.  Any other Florida moving violations

If you receive the following points on your Jacksonville FL Driver’s License, it will be suspended:
12 points within 12 months = 30 days suspension
18 points within 18 months = 3 month suspension
24 points within 36 months = 1 year suspension

You should talk to a Jacksonville lawyer for help with your drivers license.  If you continue to receive tickets and drive on a suspended license, you could become a Jacksonville habitual traffic offender.  As a habitual traffic offender, your license will be suspended for 5 years.  Call (904) 56-2525 for help.
